This older version of rd.com uses a combination of PHP and CSS to run. All the content you read here is running off the same files that the new look rd.com uses.

PHP retrieves the information from the new files and inputs it into the old rd.com template, while CSS formats that information into a style that suits the old rd.com look.

07/07/2008 - Update
Despite rumours to the contrary I am still alive and kicking and since it's been nearly a year since I updated my front page, I thought it might possibly be a good time to. Well, let me update you on my various happenings, I have left the Devil's crucible of Sainsbury's and I now work for Dennis Publishing in Central London, who publish Maxim, Bizarre, Viz, Auto Express among others. Its great fun and lots of interesting projects to put my mind too such as Weewar.

Also I came across this fan made Metal Gear Solid animated short. Give it a watch, its only three minutes and very cool, similar in style to the MGS graphic novels.

I finally have a Playstation 3, yes it was a long wait, but it was worth it. It has lived up to the hype, Resistance and MotorStorm are brilliant games and the online modes, unbelievable, no lag what so ever. Thats with 40 players by the way. In related rd.com news, I am on holiday from next week and my resources will be geared to redoing this website as it has been neglected lately. Till next week rd.com readers.... 28/10/2006 - Updates coming soon
My financial situation is improving so I will have more time to work on the website and I do have some things planned. I'm working on releasing robert-daly.com images v1.0 very soon. Key features will include the current beta features, as well as advanced search (search scores/votes, users, size etc etc) and using cookies to store session information to make uploading multiple images faster. Once that is completed I shall be pushing the photo upload site alot more and reworking the site's contents, the "About Me" section will probably go and be replaced by a CV/Portfolio section. Any other ideas or contributions please contact me, rd.com isn't dead.. just yet...

13/02/2006 - Hey Ho Lets Go!!
Hello, this is a public service announcement on behalf of Robert Daly.com, Robert Daly is not dead, he is infact alive and well. He is however a lazy bastard and not been doing much except for drink and talk crap (the usual). This does not make for interesting updates, but I have to try. I did however, get rid of the RSS, yay with a kick ass review of Quake 4!! Eat it down!!That dastard Jones, over at wackyshambles.co.uk suggests my updates should consist of tomfooley such as...

02/01/2006 - Congratulations, your alive...
First off, I want to wish my readers a delayed Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year, hopefully this year will be even better than the last (PS3 launch!) with all things plentiful. Sorry about the lack of updates but I haven't been at home that often over the holidays and when I have I've been doing assignments. I'll try and add some more stuff to the site when I can, my project work will go up soon and I'll finally replace The Shrine. Also if your into PC gaming I highly recommend that you purchase both Raven's excellent Quake 4 and F.E.A.R. both of which make a worthy addition to any FPS collection.

16/12/2005 - Photo Site Updated
Hey hey people, sorry about lack of updates but needed to get this presentation done. But its done now and I think it went well (Hopefully). Reinstalled XP yesterday but before I did that, I installed Windows Vista, suffice to say very cool, but totally different experience. Its not a straight forward Windows upgrade. Have a look at the screenshots here. Also playing Quake 4, i'm impressed, it looks good and plays good. And I still got F.E.A.R to install tehehehe.

I'm moving up in the world in seems. Check it out here. Another thing is people have been asking why I have a goatee at Teri's Party well the answer is clear and obvious. It was a "Rock Star" theme night and if you can't see the resemblance then you are a fool.

Just in case you haven't noticed a new look to the website as well as a new scripting language. The site is coded to look nearly identical in both IE and Firefox, so if you have any issues or want to make a suggestion, please contact me as the site cannot get any better without input.
Hope you like the new look, it will be changed slightly in the coming weeks, especially the left menu bar as it needs work.
Here's a new ultra high res DOOM3D screenshot for your pleasure. Also a reminder of the Voyeur picture site is up and running here and post your comments about the site on the forum. Till next time...

26/11/2005 - Voy-Er, Website, Glebe and Vista
Finally the Voy-Er temp picture dump has its own section here, now with movies. Enjoy. We also have a gerbil, hamster thingy which probably is a Guiena Pig called Glebe.
Me and James have finally handed in our first assignment for this year. For Emergent Technologies we have done a presentation of Microsoft's next generation of OS Windows Vista, get our presentation here.
Also the website will be undergoing a revamp soon, so look forward to some changes.
Here are some screenshots of my DOOM3D assignment, one of them came out a bit wrong but here they are anyway. Here and here.
A work in progress blog is up for my final year, it will be added to and refined but here it is, October Montly Report. Right I'm going to work on some new designs for the site, expect updates soon.

10/11/2005 - OMG: I GOT THE INTERNETS!!!
Indeed the honour of having the internet has once again been bestowed on me. My house in Uxbridge now has Plus.Net Up To 2Mb internet (don't like the whole "up to" 2mb part, if anyone knows how I can test the line let me know) But now thankfully normal service can resume. Since it has been so long, the website has grown old and knackered but no more. Updates shall flow and the forum shall rise from the ashes like a phoenix!!
Plus I'm sure everyone is sick and tired of Snake in his skin tight lycra, so I've removed that from the front page. But anyway, I've been busy without the internet, been working on a 3D assignment, here is an alpha build, because it will probably never get past alpha build knowing me. Some screenshots of the project/assignment are up in the forum. Eventually I shall do a blog for the project so people know how the quality of my work does not improve.
But regardless more shall be coming... signing out.

PlayStation 3
16/09/2005 - Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Once again Konami has managed to bring out the best in PlayStation hardware. May I say that the PS3 does indeed look mighty powerful and maybe the Killzone trailer wasn't the hyperbole we all thought it was. At the moment I've only seen screenshots but they certainly look impressive. Multiple highly detailed soldiers, tanks and mechs all on screen at the same time with differential focusing and aliasing all present and correct.
The story seems interesting as well, I was abit disturbed by an old Snake but the scenario seems to be rather good. Set in a warzone, hopefully its a major conflict with Snake playing an integral part. But MGS has always been full of surprises. The trailer should be online soon, screenshots here.
Sidenote: Revolution controller WTF??

Updates
10/09/2005 - F.E.A.R Me
Downloaded the F.E.A.R demo (took around an hour, thanks Pipex) and its not bad at all. The graphics are nice, but the framerate dips when entering certain areas, hopefully be fixed when the retail comes out. Beside that, it is very creepy in a way Doom III should of been, with bits a lot like the dream sequences of Max Payne. Also Black for the PS2/XBox looks good, amazing what they can still get out of this gen.
In other news, finally have a house in Uxbridge, 5 mins from uni, 5 mins from Wetherspoons. Its all good. I would reveal the address here, but I fear Pete will parachute in and steal my beer. I should be there permanently from around the 17th.
Uni starts again at the end of the month, and I promise I will attend lectures especially early ones, now that I don't have to be up a whole hour before they start.
On a side note the forum appears to have died, only 40 posts from 2000. This is very annoying. But I hope/pray this is where the Brunel section of it comes into play into the coming year. Anyway peace out and pictures and more will be up soon.

08/05/2005 - Work In Progress
As a challenge I have recreated the front page using CSS. By doing this I now realise why CSS hasn't been updated in years and has limited support. Its good for tricks and some nice effects but tables are simpler and well quicker. Here's the result. It's buggy I know and doesn't work in FireFox. Hopefully I'll crack it but not getting the elements to overlap was hard enough.

F.E.A.R on the PC F.E.A.R (PC) Review
An unnerving and frightening experience 20% of the time, 80% of it can be repetitive and boring. The story is complex but explanation is weak and contrived.
The environments consist of the same industrial office setting, the game is about 8 hours, the graphics are good, especially bullet time. It requires a beast of a PC so beware. Pick it up, but don't expect too many scares.
